The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has dismissed an employee following his involvement in a road rage incident on EDSA. Police Inspector III Jaime Hermogenes Flores Jr. was accused of brandishing a firearm during a confrontation with a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver.
Immediate Actions Taken by NAPOLCOM
What we can promise is that the hearing for this case will be fair. His being a NAPOLCOM employee will not make the decision favorable to him.
Rafael Vicente Calinisan, NAPOLCOM Commissioner
During a recent press briefing, Commissioner Calinisan confirmed that Flores would be held accountable for his actions. Flores, visibly remorseful, issued an apology to both the TNVS driver and the commission, acknowledging his failure to uphold the standards expected of him.
The incident occurred on June 12 when a minor vehicular collision escalated. Investigators reported that Flores appeared to be intoxicated when he threatened the driver with his gun. He now faces a complaint for grave threats that will be addressed by the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
NAPOLCOM has committed to a thorough investigation, emphasizing that the proceedings will be impartial and based on the evidence presented. This incident highlights the commission's stance on maintaining discipline and integrity within its ranks.
