A motorbike rider was killed in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, when an electric pole collapsed on him Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. along the Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Crossing, Barangay Sagana.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Ryan Philip Jamilla, a resident of Barangay Orcunoma.
Jamilla's passenger sustained injuries but survived the accident.
Witnesses reported that Jamilla was riding from Roxas town when the pole unexpectedly fell.
The incident caused power outages affecting 31 barangays in the area, with electricity restored by around 6:24 p.m.
Engr. Humphrey Dolor, general manager of ORMECO, stated that an investigation is underway.
