The PNP revealed that the financial dispute involved a staggering P8 million, although rumors have circulated suggesting that political motivations may also have played a role in Lipata's killing.
Following the murder, Lipata's live-in partner was present during the attack but fortunately survived. Law enforcement arrested the alleged gunman, 58, and the driver, 48, in Pampanga on July 23.
Lipata was known for her outspoken support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and for her critical views of Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies. Her murder marks a tragic chapter in the ongoing discourse surrounding political dissent in the Philippines.
