A man stole as much as P400,000 from St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and Shrine in Bacolod City early Wednesday morning. Security footage captured the suspect entering the convent and fleeing with cash intended for church projects.
Details of the Theft
The thief, attempting to conceal his identity with his shirt, not only took cash but also snatched appliances, a laptop, and a bicycle belonging to the assistant parish priest.
By Thursday morning, most of the stolen items were recovered, but the cash remains missing.
Authorities believe the assailant had prior knowledge of the church layout, suggesting he may have worked there previously. The police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect.
The suspect was familiar with the place, so he may have been a former employee.
