The Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) has permitted former broadcaster Jay Sonza to post bail of P10,000. This follows his recent arrest by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on cyberlibel charges.

Initially, the charges against Sonza were classified as non-bailable. However, the court issued a new order on May 2, correcting this classification.

Upon closer examination of the warrant of arrest that it issued where it stated that the offense is not bailable, the Court rectifies the same and hereby fixes the amount of bail at Ten Thousand Pesos (Php10,000.00) for the provisional liberty of the accused.

Pasay RTC Order

The arrest warrant was issued on April 30, after the court found probable cause against Sonza for allegedly disseminating false medical information about President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Sonza was taken into custody on the same day the warrant was released. His arraignment is scheduled for May 4 at 8:30 a.m.
