A motorcycle rider was arrested in Pinukpuk, Kalinga, for not wearing a helmet during a police operation on May 10. Authorities discovered illegal drugs and ammunition in his possession.
During an "Oplan Sita" operation, police flagged down the rider and his passenger for violating a local helmet ordinance. The passenger fled the scene while the driver remained.
The rider, whose identity has not been disclosed, failed to present a driver's license. Upon inspection, police found 27 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 177.3 grams with an estimated street value of P1.205 million.
Additionally, authorities seized 13 .45-caliber bullets and seven .38-caliber bullets from the motorcycle. No firearm was recovered during the inspection.
When asked for the motorcycle's registration documents, the driver allegedly opened the compartment, revealing the illegal substances and ammunition, prompting his immediate arrest.
This apprehension highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address illegal drug activities and enforce traffic laws.
