Five police officers were injured in an ambush while serving an arrest warrant in Buadipuso Buntong, Lanao del Sur, on May 4, 2026.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. as the officers targeted Sukair Diongcat, who is wanted for murder and attempted murder.
Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, confirmed that the officers were fired upon by unidentified gunmen.
The firefight continued for several hours, with reinforcements arriving from the Special Action Force and nearby police units.
The injured officers were swiftly transported to Marawi City for medical treatment, and pursuit operations against the assailants are currently underway.
