A jobless man, identified as alias 'Baki', was arrested in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, on August 7, during a buy-bust operation that resulted in the seizure of approximately 550 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱3.74 million.
Details of the Operation
Authorities conducted a two-week buildup of intelligence leading to the successful arrest of the suspect.
PDEA-7 Officials
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Central Visayas, along with local police units, executed the operation after receiving tips from a confidential informant. The arrest occurred around 4:58 PM.
In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated the buy-bust money, a smartphone, and other items not related to drug activity.
Baki's criminal history includes past cases filed in 2014 for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and firearms regulations, although he had evaded arrest at that time.
Currently, Baki remains in custody and faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The seized drugs have been sent to the PDEA Regional Office Laboratory for analysis.
