A 27-year-old man was arrested during a police buy-bust operation in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, on May 4. Authorities seized suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱850,000 from the suspect.
The operation took place around 1:03 PM, executed by operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) in partnership with the local police.
The suspect, identified only by the alias 'Jovito,' is reported to be unemployed and a resident of the area.
Details of the Operation
Jovito was apprehended after selling suspected shabu to an undercover officer. Authorities recovered two packs of the drug, weighing around 125 grams.
In addition to the drugs, police also confiscated the buy-bust money, a cellphone, and other non-drug-related items.
Investigation Background
The buy-bust operation followed a week-long surveillance based on tips from a confidential informant. Investigators believe the suspect has been identified as a high-value drug personality capable of distributing significant quantities of narcotics.
Legal Actions
As of May 5, Jovito remains in custody at the PDEA-7 detention facility. The seized drugs have been sent for chemical analysis.
Charges for selling and possessing illegal substances will be filed against him under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, with potential penalties including life imprisonment and fines up to ₱10 million.
