A serious traffic accident in Reina Mercedes, Isabela, left 21 individuals injured on Thursday afternoon. The crash involved a passenger jeepney and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along the national highway.
Authorities reported that the accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. in Barangay Tallungan. Police Major Danilo Malab confirmed that the jeepney was carrying 21 passengers, including the driver.
The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old man from Barangay San Andres, was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the collision occurred.
The impact caused the jeepney to overturn, with its wheels reportedly detached due to the force of the collision.

Emergency responders rushed all occupants of the jeepney to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Fortunately, the SUV driver was unharmed.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and the SUV driver is expected to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple injuries.
