A tragic accident in Medellin, Cebu, claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcycle rider early Tuesday morning, September 1. The victim, identified as Richell Camay, collided with a Ceres bus driven by 46-year-old Alfonso Mandado.

The motorcycle allegedly encroached into the lane occupied by the bus, resulting in a collision.

According to the preliminary police investigation, both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the motorcycle drifted into the bus's lane. The force of the crash caused Camay's motorcycle to be dragged several meters, leaving a 10-meter skid mark from the bus.

Mandado turned himself in to the authorities and is currently in police custody. He is expected to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.

As part of the investigation, Mandado underwent alcohol and drug testing in accordance with Republic Act No. 10586, which regulates driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
