The Port of Subic Bay has officially been designated as the primary gateway for Pax Silica trade, according to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). This new role is part of an initiative to enhance logistics and technology investments in the Philippines.
Strategic Partnership to Enhance Supply Chain
The agreement establishes a framework for BCDA and SBMA to jointly assess and promote the Port of Subic Bay as the primary entry and exit point for silica, advanced technology inputs, and other high-value products.

BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang emphasized the strategic importance of Subic for related investments. He noted that the port facilitates the efficient movement of raw materials and ensures timely product delivery.
The collaboration between BCDA and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) will also focus on studies and technical assessments to enhance logistics connectivity, reinforcing the Luzon Economic Corridor.
This initiative aligns with the Luzon Economic Corridor's goal to improve connectivity across key regions in Luzon, including Clark and Metro Manila.
Subic Port's proximity to New Clark City, which is set to host a significant AI hub, further underscores its importance in the Pax Silica initiative. The hub represents a Washington-led partnership aiming to elevate the Philippines' standing in the global supply chain for AI and semiconductors.
Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go highlighted that the US has recognized Pax Silica-related initiatives in the Philippines as a crucial economic priority. A framework agreement for the AI hub is expected to be signed by November.
