The House of Representatives has launched plenary deliberations on the proposed P7.2 trillion national budget for 2027. Led by House Committee on Appropriations Chair Representative Mikaela Suansing, the discussions will focus on funding priorities in a challenging economic environment.

Budget Priorities in a Difficult Fiscal Climate

We deliberate on the proposed P7.2-trillion 2027 national budget under a challenging fiscal landscape. The country is grappling with slower economic growth, inflationary pressures, rising debt obligations, geopolitical conflict, volatile fuel prices and climate-related risks—all of which place greater constraints on our fiscal space.

Suansing highlighted the government's commitment to use this budget to enhance the quality of life for Filipinos. Key areas of focus will be education, healthcare, and social services, aiming to secure food and energy stability.

  • Education sector: P1.326 trillion allocated
  • Department of Health and PhilHealth: P353.76 billion
  • Department of Social Welfare and Development: P241.56 billion
  • Agriculture and Agrarian Reform: P276.57 billion

The proposed allocations demonstrate a strategic approach to address the pressing needs of the population. With rising inflation and debt obligations, the government aims to ensure sustainable growth and resilience against future challenges.
