The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported a 0.3% decrease in the country's farm output value, totaling P437.52 billion in the first quarter of 2026.

This decline was largely attributed to reduced production values in crops and fisheries, although livestock and poultry sectors showed growth.

Crops witnessed the most significant drop, falling by 2.4% to P243.62 billion, which represents 55.7% of the overall farm output.

Production of palay and corn decreased by 6.3% and 5.5%, respectively, impacting the overall agricultural landscape.

Fisheries Sector Faces Significant Decline

The fisheries sector reported a notable decline of 6.1%, valued at P52.34 billion, accounting for 12% of total farm output.

Out of 21 monitored fish species, 15 experienced production decreases, while six improved.

Livestock and Poultry Show Resilience

In contrast, the livestock sector rose by 5.1% to P60.74 billion, driven by a 6.4% increase in hog production.

Poultry production also saw a strong performance, growing by 7.1% to P80.83 billion, with all commodities in this sector reporting gains.
