In response to the devastating flooding affecting Sta. Ana, Pampanga, and surrounding areas, over 11,000 workers have been deployed for emergency jobs across the National Capital Region (NCR) and the Ilocos Region.
Government Initiative to Aid Flood-Impacted Areas
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that this initiative falls under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced Workers (Tupad) program, aimed at providing immediate employment opportunities to those affected by the recent severe weather.
Amid the southwest monsoon and the successive floods, we have prepared the Tupad program to assist in cleanup, declogging, and the recovery of communities affected by inclement weather, while simultaneously providing employment to the beneficiaries.

Between August 24 and September 2, DOLE detailed that 1,418 workers in Metro Manila and 9,778 in the Ilocos Region received support through this program. The work involved clearing debris, unclogging drainage systems, and rehabilitating affected areas.

For the Tupad program, DOLE allocated P39.637 million for Metro Manila and P61.17 million for the Ilocos Region. These funds are essential for providing immediate relief and supporting community recovery efforts.
Tolentino emphasized the commitment of DOLE to continue mobilizing workers in response to severe weather conditions, reaffirming the government's dedication to assisting both displaced workers and vulnerable communities.
