In a move to support local jeepney drivers, the government has distributed P5,000 in cash aid to 631 drivers in Oriental Mindoro. This assistance comes from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and was coordinated with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on drivers who have been adversely affected by soaring fuel prices.

On May 6, the cash aid was distributed at the Calapan City College for recipients from the first district, and at the Bansud municipal hall for those from the second district.

We ensured an orderly and efficient distribution to avoid long queues and inconvenience for the beneficiaries,

Erik Bautista, LTFRB Mimaropa Regional Director

The LTFRB has encouraged eligible drivers to reach out to local DSWD and LTFRB offices for additional information on future aid and distribution schedules.
