The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) has resolved a water leak issue in a fourth-generation Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) linked to a malfunctioning air-conditioning valve.

The incident prompted the LRMC to conduct a thorough inspection, during which maintenance teams discovered the source of the leak was a defective drain line valve in the air-conditioning unit.

The faulty valve has since been replaced, and the unit is now undergoing rigorous safety and performance checks to ensure full operational integrity.

In light of this incident, LRMC announced plans to enhance its maintenance protocols. The company will increase inspection frequency for air-conditioning unit drain valves from every 10,000 kilometers to every 5,000 kilometers.

Additionally, the LRMC intends to proactively replace these valves across its entire fleet, aiming to prevent similar issues in the future.
