Housing loans in the Visayas have reached approximately P4.39 billion as of April 2026, according to the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG). This marks a notable increase in financing for homebuyers in the region.

Despite ongoing global economic challenges, including the US-Iran conflict, officials are optimistic about the housing sector's growth. Cesar Bazan, Pag-IBIG's Visayas department manager, highlighted strong demand for home financing.

"The numbers are higher than last year during the same period," Bazan stated during a media forum in Cebu.

For 2026, Pag-IBIG has set an ambitious target of P18 billion in housing loans for the Visayas, an increase from the P16 billion goal in 2025.

Continued Support for Homebuyers

Last year, the agency disbursed around P14.2 billion in housing loans within the region. To further enhance access to financing, Pag-IBIG recently organized a housing fair in Cebu, showcasing about 20,000 housing units.

This initiative aligns with the national government's strategy to address the significant housing backlog in the Philippines, estimated at 2.2 million units.

We aim to accelerate lending activities in the coming months to support more Filipinos in achieving homeownership.
