The upcoming initial public offering (IPO) of Mynt Inc., the parent company of GCash, is seen as a potential game changer for the Philippine capital market. Galing sa Puso party-list Rep. Jan 'JP' Padiernos emphasized that the IPO could enhance retail investor participation, especially among the 49 million Filipinos who actively use the e-wallet platform.
A Strategic Move Amid Economic Challenges
At a time when economic growth has slowed and investment activity has weakened, the entry of a large, profitable and widely used Filipino fintech company into the stock market could provide a timely opportunity to expand participation in equities.

- 49 million GCash users represent about 42% of the population
- IPO expected to generate approximately P14.95 billion in net proceeds
The Philippine Statistics Authority reported a sluggish economic growth rate of 2.3 percent for the second quarter of 2026, alongside a notable decline in gross capital formation by 9.2 percent. This backdrop makes the GCash IPO particularly significant.
With an indicative price ranging from P7.50 to P10 per share, the IPO could involve up to P92.3 billion in shares, combining both primary and secondary offerings. Mynt's extensive reach, especially outside Metro Manila, could connect everyday GCash users to formal investment opportunities.
Mynt's success in the digital finance sector is underscored by its reported P79.8 billion in revenue and P17.2 billion in profit in 2025. The company's diverse offerings include payments, lending, savings, insurance, and investment products, making it a vital player in the financial ecosystem.
Padiernos noted that the IPO could bridge the gap between millions of GCash users and the Philippine capital market, which requires increased investor participation. As the first fintech company to be listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, Mynt’s entry could signal a new era for both digital finance and traditional investing in the country.
