FDC Misamis Power Corporation recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, reflecting on a decade of achievements that extend beyond power generation.

The facility, featuring a 3 x 135 MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Thermal Power Plant, has played a key role in stabilizing the electricity supply in Mindanao since it began operations in 2016.

Celebrating Partnerships and Progress

To honor its customers and partners, FDC Misamis hosted a Customers' Appreciation Night on September 25, 2026, in Cagayan de Oro City, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in its operational success.

"We have remained committed to being a reliable energy partner in Mindanao for the past decade," said Juan Eugenio L. Roxas, President and CEO.

Roxas highlighted the company's proactive measures to meet increasing energy demands, citing concerns from the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines regarding potential power shortages.

A Decade of Energy Security

Prior to FDC Misamis' commissioning, Mindanao struggled with frequent power outages that hindered economic growth. The addition of 405 MW of capacity from the plant has been instrumental in enhancing the region's electricity supply.

Furthermore, the energization of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project has allowed FDC Misamis to extend its services to other regions.

Contributions to Local Development

FDC Misamis has also made significant contributions to local economic development. In 2025, it was recognized as the top real property taxpayer in Misamis Oriental, remitting over ₱210 million in taxes.

These contributions support vital public services and community projects.

Empowering Communities Through Programs

The company has invested more than ₱130 million in community development initiatives, including electrification and educational programs. Recent partnerships have enhanced teaching methods for local educators.

Environmental initiatives, such as the rehabilitation of Soligao Creek, demonstrate FDC Misamis’ commitment to sustainable development.

Looking Ahead

As FDC Misamis moves into its next decade, it remains focused on both energy generation and community empowerment, aligning with the Gotianun family's tradition of making a positive impact on Filipino lives.

With a dedicated workforce and ongoing investments in renewable energy, the company aims to address future energy challenges while continuing to foster local development.
