The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has decided to pause the collection of Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) charges for the billing months of May and June 2026. This suspension is intended to provide relief to consumers facing economic challenges.

In an advisory released on Friday, the ERC stated that the suspension will apply to all collection agents, including distribution utilities, Retail Electricity Suppliers, and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines. The GEA-All charge, which amounts to PHP0.0371 per kilowatt-hour, will not be collected during this period.

The ERC's decision follows an assessment of the GEA-All Fund, which, as of May 5, 2026, has a healthy balance of approximately PHP466.49 million. This fund is expected to adequately support eligible renewable energy developers, even with the temporary suspension.

ERC's Commitment to Consumers and Renewable Energy

ERC Chairperson Francis Saturnino Juan emphasized the Commission's commitment to supporting both the development of renewable energy and the protection of consumers. He noted that this action is a response to the rising costs faced by Filipino households.

“While the ERC remains fully committed to supporting the country’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, we also recognize the immediate challenges being faced by Filipino households due to rising prices and global uncertainties,” said Juan.

Juan assured that the ERC will continue to maintain fair, transparent, and sustainable renewable energy policies, while also implementing measures to help mitigate sudden spikes in electricity costs.
