The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched a partnership with foodpanda Philippines to facilitate the upskilling of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This collaboration aims to provide MSMEs with essential knowledge and tools to enhance their e-commerce capabilities.

Empowering Local Businesses

The DTI's E-Commerce Bureau (ECB) signed a memorandum of understanding with foodpanda, a subsidiary of Delivery Hero Philippines, Inc. This initiative focuses on offering capacity-building programs, including workshops, skills training, and merchant onboarding.

This collaboration demonstrates how the government and industry can work together to make digital opportunities more accessible and inclusive.

  • Training on navigating the Internet Transactions Act (Republic Act No. 111967)
  • Workshops on e-commerce best practices

This partnership underscores the growing importance of e-commerce in the Philippines, which has been a significant driver of the digital economy. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the digital sector grew 5.4% last year, reaching P2.74 trillion, with e-commerce representing 32.2% or P880.46 billion.

By equipping MSMEs with the necessary skills and market access, the DTI and foodpanda are taking steps to ensure these businesses can thrive in an increasingly digital marketplace.
