The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Calabarzon region will transition to a four-day workweek starting May 11. This decision aligns with the agency's initiative to implement flexible work arrangements.
In a public advisory shared on Facebook, DENR-Calabarzon outlined that its offices, including the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (PENROs) and Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) across Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Personnel will work ten-hour shifts, excluding a one-hour lunch break, effectively compressing the standard 40-hour workweek into four days.
This shift is part of a broader government strategy initiated in March to conserve energy and reduce fuel consumption amidst escalating global oil prices.
The new workweek schedule is aimed at enhancing employee well-being while contributing to national energy conservation efforts.
