Davao City's thriving business sector is benefiting from a dependable water supply, crucial for sustaining operations and attracting new investments. In January 2026 alone, the Davao City Business Bureau recorded 45,621 new business permit applications, a 3% increase from the previous year.

Infrastructure as a Key Driver for Growth

Davao City continues to maintain a secure and resilient water supply system, making it one of the key factors that enable businesses to operate efficiently, expand confidently, and invest in the city.

The rise in business registrations reflects strong confidence among investors. In 2024, Davao saw a record 52,219 applications, surpassing the previous year's 50,792. This trend underscores Davao's growing appeal compared to other cities, many of which are facing water supply issues.

At the heart of this reliable service is the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP), a public-private partnership with Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc. This facility treats surface water from the Tamugan River, supplying up to 300 million liters daily.

Local businesses, from food processors to hotels, rely on this consistent water supply to ensure operational efficiency. Carinderia owner Evelyn del Campo highlighted the positive changes, stating that water interruptions, once a frequent issue, have become rare.

The DCBWSP not only meets current demands but positions Davao City as a competitive investment destination. As the city continues to attract businesses, the importance of resilient infrastructure like reliable water services cannot be overstated.
