CCP Games, known for its flagship MMORPG EVE Online, has rebranded itself as Fenris Creations following a $120 million buyout from its former parent company, Pearl Abyss.
The acquisition, which includes both cash and non-cash assets, allows the studio to operate independently under the leadership of its senior management and long-term investors.
New Governance Structure
With this transition, Fenris Creations will be governed by its own Board of Directors, aimed at enhancing strategic decision-making for its online platforms.
The company has assured that there will be no layoffs or internal restructuring. The existing leadership will continue to manage operations from its headquarters in Vatnsmýrin, Iceland, while also overseeing studios in London and Shanghai.
Strategic Partnership with Google DeepMind
In a significant move, Fenris Creations has formed a partnership with Google DeepMind, which has acquired a minority stake in the company.
This collaboration will leverage an offline version of EVE Online to explore advancements in artificial intelligence, focusing on areas such as long-term planning and memory retention.
Financial Performance and Upcoming Titles
Fenris Creations reported over $70 million in revenue for 2025, marking a profitable year. Notably, EVE Online achieved its second-highest revenue quarter in its two-decade history during Q4 2025.
The studio is currently developing two new titles: EVE Vanguard, an extraction-adventure FPS, and EVE Frontier, an online space survival game.
Recent Developments in EVE Frontier
The rebranding comes after the successful EVE Frontier × Sui 2026 Hackathon, where participants developed over 120 projects related to the upcoming game.
The grand prize was awarded to a civilization management system called 'CradleOS.' In April 2026, the game transitioned its infrastructure from Ethereum to the Sui blockchain, initiating the 'Cycle 5: Shroud of Fear' testing phase.
