Cebu will experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers this Sunday, May 3, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Light to moderate rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected as the region feels the effects of prevailing easterlies.
Pagasa has issued a general flood advisory, noting that river systems such as Cotcot, Mananga, Guinabasan, Balamban, and Subangdaku may be affected by the rainfall.
Residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take precautions, with local disaster response units on alert.
Despite the rainy conditions, Cebu is forecasted to have light to moderate winds and seas throughout the day.
No Low Pressure Areas Detected
As of Sunday morning, Pagasa reported no low-pressure areas were being monitored for potential tropical cyclone formation, and no gale warnings were in effect.
Heat Index Cautions
Temperatures in Cebu are predicted to range from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius during the day, dropping to 26 to 30 degrees at night. However, the heat index may peak at 37 degrees Celsius, indicating extreme caution.
Pagasa warns that prolonged exposure to high heat index levels can lead to heat cramps or exhaustion. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
