A 4.8-magnitude earthquake shook Balut Island in Sarangani at 2:46 PM on July 25, 2026. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed that the epicenter was located 10 kilometers southwest of the island.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. Phivolcs reported that the tremor was felt with an intensity level of II in nearby Sarangani and Davao Occidental.

Aftershock from Recent Seismic Events

This aftershock follows a significant magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the region on June 8, along with another 6.5-magnitude quake off Davao Occidental on June 26.

The recent tremors serve as a reminder of the seismic risks in Mindanao, where earthquakes are not uncommon.
