Residents in Mississippi have filed a class action lawsuit against Elon Musk's xAI and SpaceX, claiming that noise from a nearby data center has created a public nuisance.
The lawsuit was filed on June 9 in federal court in Oxford, Mississippi, by three residents representing over 10,000 affected individuals, arguing that the companies have failed to mitigate the disturbances.
Plaintiffs accuse the companies of negligence, stating that the persistent noise from gas-fired turbines has not only diminished their quality of life but has also negatively impacted property values.
Robert Wiygul, representing the plaintiffs, emphasized the emotional toll, stating, "Our homes are supposed to be a sanctuary for us against the world...when they are invaded by noise 24 hours a day, it takes that fundamental peace away."
