The Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) plans to issue a subpoena to Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa today, May 11. This summons relates to investigations into alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) during the previous administration's anti-drug campaign.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed the development during a briefing at Camp Crame. He clarified that the subpoena is not an arrest warrant but a formal request for the senator to appear before the CIDG.

Should Dela Rosa fail to comply, a task force led by BGen. Hansel Marantan and Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II will be established to locate him.

Background on Dela Rosa's Situation

Dela Rosa has been out of public view since November of last year, following news that the International Criminal Court (ICC) had issued an arrest warrant related to his role in the drug war.

Critics have raised concerns about his continued salary despite his prolonged absence from the Senate.

We will treat him with all the respect that he deserves. He’s a senator, a former chief of the Philippine National Police, a former director of the BuCor,” said Remulla.
