Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has expressed strong discontent over the failure of PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. to attend a vital meeting aimed at addressing water supply challenges in Pampanga.

Government's Frustration Over Water Supply Issues

I will bring this all the way to the president. This is unacceptable.

Vince Dizon, Secretary of Public Works

The meeting, organized by the provincial government and the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), was intended to tackle complaints from residents about inadequate water supply. Dizon deemed PrimeWater's absence an affront to the government and the local community.

The situation is particularly pressing as Pampanga is facing the dual challenges of flooding and water shortages, exacerbated by the anticipated El Niño phenomenon. Dizon highlighted the need for alternative water sources to mitigate these issues.

In light of the concerns raised, the provincial government is exploring bulk water facilities that could better manage the region's water resources. This initiative aims to utilize river water during heavy rains to ensure supply during dry spells.

During the meeting, Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda highlighted issues with existing water sources, noting that some pumping stations were producing discolored water. She emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and adequate water supply over cost concerns.

Dizon confirmed that a timeline for the bulk water initiative was discussed, although specific implementation details remain to be finalized.
