The majority of Cebu's House representatives have voted to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte, making this the second impeachment effort against her.
On May 12, the House of Representatives disclosed the voting results on the impeachment articles. A total of 257 lawmakers supported the committee report, moving the matter to the Senate.
Among those who voted 'yes' were:
Cebu City, 2nd District Rep. Eduardo 'Edu' Rama Jr., Cebu 1st District Rep. Rhea Gullas, Cebu 2nd District Rep. Edsel Galeos, Cebu 5th District Rep. Duke Frasco, Cebu 6th District Rep. Daphne Lagon, Cebu 7th District Rep. Patricia Calderon, Lapu-Lapu City Rep. Ahong Chan, Mandaue City Rep. Lolypop Ouano-Dizon, and Ako-Bisaya Partylist Rep. Sonny Lagon.
Conversely, four Cebuano representatives opposed the impeachment: Rachel Marguerite 'Cutie' Del Mar (Cebu City, 1st District), Karen Flores-Garcia (3rd District, Cebu province), Sun Shimura (4th District, Cebu province), and Malasakit@Bayanihan Rep. Girlie Veloso.
This vote reflects ongoing political tensions within Cebu, highlighting divided opinions among local lawmakers.
A total of 257 House lawmakers voted in favor of the committee report, effectively sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate.
