The Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH) confirmed the resignation of Imelda Schweighart just hours before the much-anticipated 2026 coronation show.
The announcement was made on May 2, just before the event at the Mall of Asia Arena. Both MUPH and Schweighart stated that the decision was mutually agreed upon.
"Ms. Schweighart has officially resigned from the 2026 Miss Universe Philippines competition. This was a professional decision mutually reached by both parties after careful consideration," the organization shared.
MUPH emphasized that the separation was amicable, stating, "There is no hostility between Ms. Schweighart and MUPH."
