BINI has been named one of the newest tourism ambassadors by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in the Philippines. This announcement was made on July 3 at a formal event in Makati.
Tourism Secretary Maria Bernardita "Dita" Angara-Mathay hosted the launch, emphasizing the group's potential in attracting both local and international visitors as part of the "Discover More to Love" campaign.
Laurenti "Lauren" Dyogi, head of Star Magic, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it aims to enhance the Philippines' global visibility.
It is an honor to be here. We are here to help build a lasting partnership with the Department of Tourism that will benefit not only BINI and ABS-CBN, but also the country as a whole.
Laurenti Dyogi, Head of Star Magic
The partnership is seen as a strategic move following BINI's historic performance at the Coachella Festival, where they made history as the first all-Filipino P-pop group to take the stage.
- BINI's popular songs like "Pantropiko" highlight the beauty of Philippine destinations.
- The group will soon embark on an 11-city tour across North America.
BINI consists of eight members: Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena. They have rapidly risen to fame with hits that resonate with the youth and promote Filipino culture.
Their recent concerts, including two sold-out shows at the Mall of Asia Arena, demonstrate their growing influence, which the DOT hopes to leverage to enhance tourism.
While the DOT has not yet named the male P-pop group that will join BINI, the initiative marks a significant step in using music as a tool to promote cultural pride and tourism.
