Spot power prices in the Philippines decreased to P8.31 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in July, reflecting a 13 percent drop from previous rates. This adjustment is mainly attributed to a decline in electricity demand.
Regional Price Variations
According to the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP), Luzon recorded the lowest spot price at P7.30 per kWh, down 8.2 percent from June's P7.95. In contrast, the Visayas and Mindanao reported higher rates of P11.29 and P10.39 per kWh, respectively.
The reduction in systemwide electricity rates will be reflected in consumers’ electricity bills for August.
