Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) has announced a 5% growth in its core net income for the first quarter of 2026, totaling P6.9 billion. This marks an increase from P6.6 billion during the same period last year.
The company's operational contributions improved by 4%, primarily driven by robust performances in its power and healthcare sectors.
Power Sector Leads Earnings Growth
The power division was the largest contributor to MPIC’s earnings, contributing P5.1 billion, which accounts for 62% of the total net operating income. Water and toll roads followed, with contributions of P1.5 billion and P1.4 billion, respectively.
Despite the overall growth, MPIC's net income saw a decline compared to last year due to the lack of a one-off gain from the sale of Philippine Coastal Storage and Pipeline Corp.
Meralco and Maynilad Performance
Meralco, a key subsidiary, reported a 2% increase in consolidated core net income, reaching P11.4 billion, supported by stronger contributions from power generation.
Maynilad Water Services also experienced a 10% rise in core net income, amounting to P4 billion, attributed to tariff adjustments and operational improvements.
